CURRICULUM

TWO–TIER SECONDARY EDUCATION SYSTEM

Here at Royal Nefsea International Schools Ikot Ntuen Nsit, Nsit Ibom L.G.A, Akwa Ibom State, we operate the two –tier Secondary Education system which is a component of the 6.3.3.4 system of education. The two tier education is operative in Royal Nefsea International Schools. The new National Policy of Education is given in two stages: Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS), each being three years duration.

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

In the senior secondary, students must compulsorily offer six core subjects, one of which must be a Nigerian language.  In addition, every student must offer four elective subjects, not already offered as core subjects. Thus, S.S students are encouraged to offer 10 subjects including a Nigerian language. A student must drop one or two of the electives in the third year of senior secondary.

  • At the senior secondary school level all students are to offer all four (4) compulsory subjects
  • Students are to choose 3 to 4 subjects from their field of specialization. i. e. Humanities, technology, Business Studies and Science.
  • Students are to choose their compulsory Trade/Entrepreneurship subjects from the list available subjects
  • Students may choose one (1) elective subject outside the field of specialization provided that the total number of examinable subjects is not more than (9)
  • A maximum of nine subjects and minimum of eight (8) subjects allowed

The school admits students from all over the country and outside the country.  There is no discrimination of any kind e.g., Ethnic, race or religious.

  1. Admission into JSS1 is based on the performance of a candidate in the highly competitive entrance examinations
  2. Promotion and admission into senior secondary school depend on the academic performance at the Junior Secondary Certificate Examination.

JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

 Under this new program, a student spends three years in the Junior Secondary School. At the end of the third year, depending on his/her ability, aptitude and interest, he/she moves to Senior Secondary School where he/she picks his/her subject of study  with the advice of the parents and the Guidance/counselors.

Our Primary School uses Nigerian and British Hybrid Curriculum. In this stage, pupils are trained to broaden their horizon. PRE-SCHOOL

This is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where the child is closely monitored by professionals as they get to understand, familiarize and explore the environment. This is a play-based stage which ranges from 0-5years. Our pre-school uses the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and our gifted teachers help in the development of the communication and writing skills of the children.
